OWL is made by Own What’s Left LLC. It is a one-person project: the person who reads your mail is the person who wrote the software.

The job is household budgeting. Give every dollar that comes in a place to belong, see plainly what has been spent, and own what is left. The software does arithmetic and stays out of your way.

The stance does not move: the budgeting software is free, your budget lives in a file you own, there is no advertising, and your information is never sold. The paid services exist because servers cost money to run, and for no other reason.
